WINTER SPORT
HOCKEY
We coach hockey in all the age groups from U/7 through to U/13. We have 13 enthusiastic coaches and we take part in as many tournaments/matches as possible in our SWD region.
We are very proud of our five U/13 girls who made the SWD team this year and wish them well for their provincial tournament.
Another highlight of the year is our U/13 tour to Port Elizabeth at the end of July. We will be playing 4 matches and then going on educational outings to game reserves and the Addo Elephant Park.
On the 22nd of August we will hold our annual U/14 hockey tournament in Knysna and we will also be hosting numerous touring teams from Cape Town, Kimberley and Port Elizabeth.
Our aim as coaches is to teach the skills of hockey, to instill in children the love of a team sport and also how to be a good sportsman. We go onto the field to win, but we also teach our players how to learn from a loss.

HOCKEY REPORT
Knysna Primary Hockey has had a very successful 2010 season. We coach all the age groups from U/7 to U/14. Our coaches and players are very enthusiastic and motivated.
We are very proud of our players who were selected for SWD U/13 Teams this year. The girls are Callyn Witbooi, Lauren Hutten, Tammy Goodridge and the boys are Duncan Mather and Rayne Davis.
Our annual tour to Port Elizabeth was the highlight of the season for our senior players. Our teams did extremely well against the Port Elizabeth schools. Our players were also taken on a game drive which was a wonderful experience for them.
We are very excited about the 2011 hockey season, as for the first time we will have our own “Home Fields” and a Clubhouse. We will be hosting 2 tournaments in 2011, one for juniors and one for the senior players. These events will be to celebrate our new home in Knysna.

Tournaments we participate in:
u/7 - u/9 usually take part in various tournaments that are hosted in George and Mossel Bay.
Annually, they also participate in respective local tournaments.
Our teams play an average of 15 matches per season.

Toernooie waaraan deelgeneem word: o/7 - o/9 neem gewoonlik aan verskeie jaarlikse rugbydae in George en Mosselbaai deel.
Daar word ook aan die onderskeie plaaslike toernooie deelgeneem.
Daar word gemiddeld 15 wedstryde gedurende die seisoen gespeel.
‘n Puik rugbyseisoen vir Laerskool Knysna !
Die pas afgelope rugbyseisoen was voorwaar vol hoogtepunte!
Die seisoen is afgeskop met ‘n toer vir die o/11- en o/13 spanne na Rietbron in die Oos-Kaap, waar teen van die top spanne in die onderskeie streke gespeel word. Vir baie seuns was dit ‘n eerste smakie van hoe rugby in die binneland gespeel word. Die Knysna spelers het egter uitstekende rekenskap van hulself gegee.
Die o/13A-span het gedurende die 2010 seisoen dan in totaal 18 wedstryde gespeel, waarvan 14 gewen, twee gelykop en 2 verloor is.
Die span lewer 7 seuns wat die Knysna-Plett streek by die S.W.D proewe verteenwoordig. Ons skool spog dan ook trots met twee spelers in die o/13 Cravenweek span van 2010. ‘n Verdere drie spelers haal ook die S.W.D o/12 span wat gedurende die September skoolvakansie in die Paarl aan ‘n interprovinsiale toernooi deelneem. Dit bring die totale aantal provinsiale spelers wat deur die skool opgelewer is die afgelope 2 jaar, op 10 te staan.
Ook op junior gebied lyk die rugbytoekoms van Laerskool Knysna belowend. Die o/11 A span het soos ouder gewoonte, puik rugby gespeel en verskeie goeie oorwinnings behaal. Ons Bulletjie spanne (junior spanne) neem ook aan verskeie toernooie in die S.W.D deel en behaal uitstekende uitslae.
Die afrigters en spelers van hierdie spanne wil graag ook erkenning gee aan die ouers en die beheerliggaam van Laerskool Knysna se volgehoue ondersteuning.

Matches are generally played on Wednesdays against neighbouring schools.
Tournaments are played on Saturdays:
o/7 - o/9 tournament in George/Mossel Bay.
o/11 tournament at Outeniqua in April.
o/12 - o/13 tournament at George-South in April.
o/12s and o/13s take part in trials during May. There is usually a few learners that advance to the final round of SWD-trials in Oudtshoorn. This year Taryn Jacobs, Jocelyn van Reenen, Bianca van Rooyen and Princess Msomi in the u/12 goup advanced to the first round and Chrisna Dippenaar finished in the final rounds for the o/13s.
Every year we have an inter-schools tournament in Riversdale and this is always a highlight of the year. All our teams participate in this event.
The o/12 and o/13s also participate in a Netball Festival presented by Knysna Sport School every year. They are coached by coaches from the Eastern Province and then play matches against teams ranging from Cape Town to East London
Tours :
Each year we try and take the u/13's on a tour to the Eastern Cape.
At the end of the year we have a major "netball-jol" where we socialize and have fun.

Saterdae vind toernooie plaas.
Voorbeelde van hiedie toernooie is:
o/7 - o/9 toernooi by George/Mosselbaai.
o/11 toernooi by Outeniqua in April.
o/12 - o/13 toernooi by George-Suid in April.
o/12's en o/13's speel proewe gedurende Mei. Daar is gewoonlik 'n paar kinders wat vorder tot by die finale rondte van SWD-proewe in Oudtshoorn. Hierdie jaar het Taryn Jacobs, Jocelyn van Reenen, Bianca van Rooyen en Princess Msomi vir o/12's die eerste rondte gaan speel en Chrisna Dippenaar het gevorder tot die finale rondte vir o/13's.
Ons Interskole teen Riversdal (Volschenk) vind ook elke jaar plaas en is 'n groot gebeurtenis waarin alle spanne deelneem.
o/12 en o/13 neem ook elke jaar deel aan Keith Cretchley (Knysna Sportskool) se netbal kliniek deel. Hulle word dan afgerig deur afrigters van OP en wedstryde word gespeel teen kinders van die Kaap tot Oos-Londen.
Toere: Daar word altyd probeer om die o/13 span Oos-Kaap toe te neem vir hul jaarlikse toer. Aan die einde van die seisoen gaan almal wat wil (o/7 - o/13) saam op 'n "netbal-jol" wat eintlik niks met netbal te doen het nie. Daar word dan net lekker saam gekuier en "gespeel".
