During June July school holiday Emma and Sebastian attended the cycling youth festival and achieved excellent results.

Emma participated in the u/11 age category.

15km road cycling – 1st place

9km road cycling time trial – 1st place

Criteria road cycling – 2nd place

10km XC Mtb – 1st place

Sebastian participated in the u/15 age category.

15km road cycling time trial – 1st place

Morgan Jones took part in the SA Road Cycling Championships for Juniors in KZN on 22 and 23 June 2019.

He rode as Eden (SWD) and Western Cape Champ in his Western Cape Champions jersey as the leader of the u13 boys team. The top 4 riders from each province were selected for this event.

The first race was the Individual Time Trial over 10km which Morgan won convincingly by 49 seconds.

2nd to 4th place were within 4 seconds of each other. The time trial is known as “the race of truth” as it is a measure of true ability.

The second race was the 32km team road race which Morgan came 4th in after dominating for more than 31km.

The finish was close with 9 seconds from 1st to 4th. The road race is very tactical and often the sneakiest(cleverest) rider wins!

Morgan was awarded the gold medal and trophy and SA Champions Jersey which he gets to wear for the next year in any road cycling races.

prestigious event. She did extremely well during this year’s Competition and achieved the following results.

Abigail focused her attention and preparation this year on her musical instrument items (the Clarinet) and the results spoke for themselves. She entered 2 Solo items, and both songs she managed to learn from scratch
within 6 weeks. This goes to show the dedication she have put in during her preparation for the competition.

She performed the Disney Hit Song – Beauty and the Beast, for which she received 1st Place and the Latin Pop Single – Havana which netted her a 2nd Place. Abigail also took part in various modelling items and received 1st place for
Swimwear & Fitness in the age category 12-14 years. For her Formal wear item, she received 2nd place.

Abigail’s photo was voted 1st Place with her Commercial Photogenic entry. She received the 2019 TOP Model Award (overall winner) in her age group 12-14 years. Abigail is also an accomplished dancer and practices many forms of Dancing. She performed a Modern Contemporary Dancing Solo item and received a Runner up Medal.

Well done, Abigail. We are super proud of you!

Grade 6

The Grade 6s of KPS went on a leadership identification excursion like they do every year. While walking from Brenton to Buffalo Bay, the learners were made aware of the pollution on the beach and assisted in a clean-up. Some of the items collected would be used in a sand castle building competition. This sand castle had to depict biodiversity and sustainable living. The learners were divided into teams and had the opportunity to show their leadership potential through many team building activities held on the beach.

Kareedouw Athletics

Knysna Primary attended the Kareedouw Athletics meeting for the 9th consecutive year. 36 children took part and all of them did extremely well. Overall, relay not included, Knysna Primary received 11 Gold medals, 14 Silver medals and 15 bronze medals. Special awards goes to Shumi Njabula for best u/9 boys athlete (80m), Dianna Nortje for best u/10 girls shotput, Gino Fredericks for the best u/12 boys javelin, and Kamvalethu Grongqu for best u/13 boys high jump. Knysna Primary was the overall winner of this meeting.

The Eco- buddies went to Brenton-on-Sea to investigate the aftermath of the fires, one year later, on the fauna and flora in that area. They also planted five Cape Ash trees to replace the alien trees that had burnt in the fires.
