What to bring along

Admission Form

Completed Admission form, signed (available on request from Mrs. Verschoor).

Birth Certificate

Certified copy of birth certificate (not older than 6 months).

Clinic Card

Only page with inoculations.

Report

Last report from pervious school (Gr. R-7).

Study Permit

A study permit issued by home affairs (for foreign learners).

Proof of Residence

Certified proof of local residence.

Copy of ID / Passport

Certified copy of ID (both parents or guardian) (not older than 6 months). Certified proof of permit / visa if applicable.

Collect Transfer

After admission, please remember to collect TRANSFER from previous school on last day of attendance.

How to apply

Admission Time

Admission time frames and procedures will be communicated by the WCED prospective grade 1 learners and learners who will be relocating for the following year. All other local inter-school transfers for the following year will take place at the end of the year.

Grade 1: Learners must be 6 turning 7. The learner’s age should not exceed his Grade plus 6 for admission.

The age of the learner should not exceed two years above or below the chronological average age of the Grade.
The learner’s home language should be either English or Afrikaans as this is the language of tuition.
Parents must agree to pay the school fees as per the resolution adopted by a majority of parents attending the Annual General meetings in accordance with the Knysna Primary School Constitution.

Parents must indicate their agreement by signing the enrolment form. In the case of divorced/separated parents, it is the responsibility of the parent applying at the school to ensure payment of school fees.

The school budgets for Subsidies from the income. This Subsidy is made available by the School Governing Body after perusing detailed documents completed by the parents. The State does not fund Welfare cases.
Class size:
Grade 1 – 3: Max 30 learners
Grade 4 – 7 : Max 35 learners

The learner should have completed a Reception year at a recognised Pre-School.

The learner should:
– be a resident in Knysna,
– live in the feeder area and
– attend his/her nearest school

Learners with siblings currently at Knysna Primary School should enjoy preference. Knysna Primary reserves the right to interview prospective learners.

Learners who have let their schooling lapse for a long period of time will not be accepted. The matter should be taken up with the Circuit Offices.

By enrolling your child at Knysna Primary School, you indicate that you accept the Code of Conduct of Knysna Primary School and you undertake to ensure that your child abides by the school rules
